[RL - Gai's Wondrous Winter Birthday Bash]

Just as Gai had said, he put together a simple but decorative outdoor skating rink in a large empty lot. The walls of the rink had green ribbons around the inside and outside, and there was a small booth at the side where guests could rent skates if they didn't have any of their own. Nearby was a restaurant, with warm lights enticing those who want a break from the winter chill.

And to set the mood just right, light snow was drifting down on the scene; quite a charming set-up really.

((OOC: I'll be setting up separate comment threads, first for the rink then later for the restaurant since they'll be going there for dinner. This isn't supposed to be anything fancy, but hijinks are cool. :3 Mingle, have fun, so on and so forth.))

Gai stood leaning against the wall of the rink, near the entryway onto the ice. There were some seats next to him where someone could sit and lace up their skates in comfort; the birthday boy was already laced up and ready, but thought it would be better to get on the ice once some guests had already arrived.

Lussuria arrived early to Gai's party for two reasons. 1. He really was eager to talk to the man, and 2. Boss wasn't too pleased that he was leaving. As was obvious by the rather large bruise forming on the right side of his jaw. Though it was the price he paid to escape Squalo's cooking!

He noticed the green-clad man waiting by the front and sped up his pace to greet the man. "Gai~! Happy birthday~!" He greeted with a wave. He held up two gifts, one in a box the other in a bag. "I got you two things, but you can only choose one now~, if you want!" He said excitedly, sparkly pink ice skates hanging from his shoulder.

"Lussuria my friend! How wonderful to see you!" Gai greeted, loud and heartily. "Two presents? You're more than kind to have done so much! I'm sure they're both thoughtful. When the time comes to choose, my heart will guide me to the right choice."

His dramatic hello finished, Gai noticed something not-quite-right on Lussuria's jaw. "I-is that a bruise? What happened?!"

The mohacian man had sat the presents and himself in a nearby chair to unlace his boots when Gai asked him the question. "Mou? Oh this?" He said in slight embarrasment as he gingerly touched the darkening bruise. "Oh, boss wasn't too happy that I was taking a day off to come. Around new years we always get a rather big amount of people requesting jobs done." He said with a shrug as he pulled off his heavy boots. "That and it was Squally's turn to cook~!" He laughed.

"It's totally unfair he hit my face though, but at least it's just my jaw~." He said in his ever lasting positive attitude while he struggled with the ice skates. Sadly enough he was totally used to his Boss' terrible attitude and 'abuse'.


((My computer crashed this morning. 8I I'm doing this tag from a library comp, so do you mind if tags stretch over a while? It's not likely I'll get a new computer for at least a few months. ;^; I'll get in as many tags in the 50 mins I have left tho' D: ))

Frost arrived, after a quick nap from New Years.
The elf himself was rather pleased to be back in Konoha and now he was an honorary citizen at that!... Least that what the card from Mother Tsunde read.

Seeing Gai, ahead Frost waved with one hand above his head, the other held a tray of chocolate chip cookies, Kabuto had baked and unknowing to Frost these had peppers in them as well.

"Happy birthday, amigo!" Now, only three feet from the man, his neck twisting around looking for 'mother' as the elf smiled.

Gai waved enthusiastically right back. "Hello Jack! Glad you could make it!"

While Jack was looking around, the Jounin noticed the cookie tray. "Those cookies look delicious! Did you bake them yourself?""

"Indeed. Indeed, I did." Smiling with a chuckle. Of course, Jack did not. Kabuto had for his 'special' friends at the Leaf Village. But Jack was not to tell, how could he? Without saying, 'he's hiding out in my world, don't ya know?'

"Would you like one?" Offering Gai the tray of cookies, "Then I can take my shoes off and we can go skating.
Adding; "Where's mother?"

"Most certainly! A little treat would be a great boost for getting started!" the Jounin exclaimed. He relieved Jack of the cookie tray, and took in his other question as he looked amongst the cookies for his first victim.

"'Mother'? Are you talking about Tsunade-sama?"

Jiraiya had come ahead to take a look around. He grinned around, looking at the ice rink. He took to instead sitting on a bench nearby the rink and pulled out a little notebook, from which he kept a careful eye out over the pages while he wrote.

After some deliberation, he wrapped up a couple of blank scrolls with a pocket mirror for a gift. So that parcel was sitting beside him.

It wasn't long before Jiraiya was noticed; the birthday boy approached. "I'm so glad you could make it as well, Jiraiya-sama. It's been some time since we last spoke! Are you recovering well?"

He quickly closed up the notebook when he saw Gai coming over. He gave him a grin as he handed over the package with his good arm.

"I'm doing a little better every day, thanks," he said, his voice still raspy. "Happy birthday."

"It gladdens me to hear it! Oh, thank you!" said Gai as he happily took the package. "Is there anything I can get for you?"

Jack noticed someone walking towards the bench as he laid his loafers there.

"Papa?.. Papa!" Gleaming exictly, arms wide spread in the air and fingers extended but had no intention of hugging the man, "Are ya doing any better?"

Shaking his head ever so lightly.

Jiraiya grinned broadly at the elf.

"A bit, yeah," he told him, voice still on the hoarse side. "How have you been?"

Neji approached the place a little apprehensively, his pale eyes already scanning the area for trouble, despite its unlikeliness.

In his arms was a box, wrapped up beautifully, with an elegant bow on one side of it.

Gai waved Neji over to where he stood. "How it warms my heart to know that you've come! To have one of my beloved students by my side today is more than I could ask for!"

He leaned forward, his arms open, as if to pull Neji into a big birthday bear hug. Luckily for Neji('s ribs), Gai caught himself and stopped, settling instead for putting his hand on his student's shoulder. There was a short nervous laugh before he continued. "Do you know if Tenten and Lee are coming?"

((OOC: I know we don't have a Lee, but Gai would ask...so we could just say he can't make it for some reason - sick or something. I hope you don't mind. ^^; ))

Oh, dear, merciful gods. Did his teacher always have to spout such prose? But Neji supposed that after four years, he should have gotten used to it. As Gai advanced, he instinctively retreated, heaving an inward sigh of relief that his teacher stopped right before he got crushed by one of his bear hugs.

"Happy birthday, sensei," he said, pedantic as only the Hyuugas could be. He shrugged at his question. "Tenten will be, but I do not know if Lee will turn up- I thought I heard one of the jounins say that Lee might have been asked to join a mission, though I could be wrong."

Silently, he offered up the box; if Gai cared to open it there and then, he would have found an intricately carved jade beast, set carefully on a lacquered rosewood base.

It had been a rushed last few minutes around her office as she finished squaring away some last minute issues. A shopping trip around the village had provided an interesting enough plant, which she was informed to be called red turtlehead.

With Shizune babysitting, she came with only the plant in her arms and her eyes looking around for the sake she had been promised.

"Tsunade-sama!" shouted Gai as he waved to greet the Hokage. He would've run, but he was still stuck in his skates after all. Instead, he reached into his pouch and withdrew what he knew she wanted. After all, it was the whole reason she agreed to let his little shindig happen.

When she reached her Jounin underling, he had in one hand a bottle of very good sake, and in the other two sake cups.

"Hello, Gai," she said, eyes spotting the sake. "Happy birthday."

She offered out the present to trade with the bottle occupying his hand, a smile growing in anticipation.

And a happy trade it was. Gai took ample time to admire the present. "This is certainly an exquisite plant! Thank you very much, Tsunade-sama. I promise that it will blossom brightly and healthily under my care!"

Gai then held the sake cups out to the Hokage so that drinks could be poured for them both. "Shall we toast to another prosperous year of growth in Konoha?"

As the elf turned around, he saw; "Mother!"
Exclaiming rather joyously, it had been after all since the baby had been born he had been anywhere near her and in so Jack almost did glomp her but reframed.

However, stood obviously blocking her path.

"Jack, it's good to see you again and not in a hospital bed," she greeted teasingly. "Been taking care of yourself, I trust?"

The elf eyerolled, "You say it, as I are always in there ma. Yes, yes. I have... How about yourself, eh?"
